Update to list of sites wireframe

Based on some feedback from Sean Corfield I've updated the wireframe for the list of sites using Fusebox. He suggested having a way to capture a reason for deleting a site and e-mailing it to the submitter.

He also suggested keeping sites that are rejected in the database but 'hidden' form the public display. This way if the same site is submitted again we'd be able to flag it somehow.

Take a look at the wireframe and let me know if there is anything else that might need to be added/changed.

Fusebox list of sites wireframe

A week ago Steve Nelson posted a call to action on the FB4 mailing list to update the documentation on FB4.x on the fusebox.org website. I finally caught up with my backlog of e-mail yesterday and came across his post. He wants to see what the community can do in the span of one week.

Whereas I don't think I could write an article on the workings of FB4.x right now I did volunteer to handle something which has bugged me for some time now - cleaning up the list of sites that use Fusebox.

It just seems to me that as a community we want to show off our work and the power of Fusebox. Having a list filled with dead links and duplicate entries just seems sloppy to me. So I volunteered to clean it up. Steve wrote back and said to rewrite the site list portion of fusebox.org and submit it to the Powers That Be involved with maintaining the site.

So, I'm working through the FLiP process and starting with the wireframe. Take a look at the wireframe and give me any comments or constructive criticsm.

Testers wanted for CFEclipse plug-in

Mark Drew posted this to the Fusebox mailing list recently:

I have been developing a fusebox plugin to CFEclipse, so I wanted to know if there were any people out there that would mind testing it for me and telling me any bugs/features that would help you in your daily coding life :)

Anyway, if you would like to help, let me know, I have done a dev release and its up on here:

PHP FB4.1 is 'official'

Mike Ritchie posted this to the PHP Fusebox mailing list recently:

Thanks to all who posted bugs, and code suggestions, the core files have been considered stable enough to post on the official downloads site for fusebox, http://downloads.fusebox.org

The sample apps are all still available on sourceforge.net

Layouts with CCVs in PHP Fusebox

Phil Harrington posted this to the PHP Fusebox mailing list recently:

Hello,

I'm that dork who wrote this really great Part 1 "setting up fusebox" article. Since then people have emailed me asking "where the heck is part 2?"

Well, in the time since the first article, fusebox 4.1 came out, and made much of part 1 needs to be change (but hasn't been), and much of what was planned for part 2 is obsolete. However, one thing that is still worth writing about, and the thing people most frequently have asked for part 2 for is: "Layouts with Content Variables!" Therefore, I humbly offer the following:

http://philsown.org/writing/layouts-with-ccvs

Enjoy. It's kind of a 2nd draft still, and could maybe use some screen shots and a zip example, but hopefully this will get people started. I have an idea for a follow up article with a more interesting example (nested ccv's), and a totally hairy example (semi-dynamic forms), but I've learned not to promise articles :-P I'll work on it though. Thanks to everyone who emailed and encouraged me.

Phil

PHP FBX4 Wiki

Geoffrey Hoffman posted this to the PHP Fusebox mailing list recently:

Hey everyone,

I had some extra time over the holidays and set up a PHPFBX4 wiki at http://fbx4.salientdigital.com

It's a default TikiWiki install at the moment - I think I set it up right but your help and feedback will be appreciated.

While I realize that Fusebox4 in concept is cross-platform, it's pretty clear that there are plenty of PHP-Specific topics that we can put up on the Wiki - and it's barely-bare-bones at the moment. If you would like to help beef up the docs for FBX4 with PHP, please check it out, register and contribute.

Fusebox4.1 released

John Quarto-vonTividar recently posted this to the Fusebox forums:

I'm glad to report that Fusebox 4.1 was officially released today.

We've been in beta for about 3 months. In that time less than a half dozen bugs were reported. So I'm feeling fairly confident that this one is rock solid.

Well, except for one thing -- one of the little fusebox elves sweet-talked a late-hour tweak which I just finished up. So that certainly hasn't been overly vetted yet. But I digress...

You can download the core files in the usual place on the fusebox.org site.

Fusebox.org is also happy to report that Techspedition's new title "Discovering Fusebox 4, Second Edition" is coming out, and includes coverage of Fusebox 4.1. It's the officially approved book for learning Fusebox. You can pre-order it at www.techspedition.com . Techspedition is also offering its regular customers a substantial $20 discount if you purchased the First Edition from them within the previous six months.

You can download the files at http://www.fusebox.org/downloads/
